Welcome to our Story…
How did Haynet Mate evolve?
A little about us – I am incredibly lucky to have been around horses all my life. I have owned horses, worked at competition yards and currently run a Livery yard and Stud. I have also worked in various corporate environments. Throughout my time with horses, a few yard jobs stand out as the ones nobody particularly likes doing, filling haynets is regularly included in this category.
In 2022 I was struggling with a shoulder injury and filling haynets was becoming increasingly difficult. I searched the market for a solution but couldn’t find anything that worked for me. I knew what I wanted to achieve so started putting various ideas together, after many homemade prototypes I came up with a concept that allowed me to fill my haynets with a minimal amount of bending and I could use both hands or a fork to fill the net. This really took the strain and frustration out of the job and made it much easier.
A few friends tried my haynet filler and gave it a positive thumbs up so I started to explore the idea of making a product based on my prototype which I could manufacture and sell. This was the start of the journey to producing Haynet Mate.
I wanted to source a UK manufacturer and use recycled materials and am incredibly happy that I have fulfilled both these criteria. It’s been a massive learning curve stepping into a completely different industry, there have been many highs and lows, but I think I have earned the title of entrepreneur now which makes me incredibly proud.
I hope you find Haynet Mate a useful piece of kit that makes filling your haynets easier and that you love it as much as I do!
